AC adapter only

Hey all,

we are using 3 XL-H1s in a studio environment. I have to say I hate the ac adapter/charger and its stupid tri-level barrel plug (its just not secure and its bulky)
I would also like to have my chargers at the charging station without them going back & forth from the charging station to the pedestal.

has any aftermarket companies made an AC adapter ONLY that is not a charger as well? if not I am really tempted to get a set of the adapter cables (DC-920 DC coupler) and make my own using a 7.2v power brick.

thanks much

Hi Brian,

I'm afraid there is no other way of feeding the camcorder than via those dummy battery plugs.

Perhaps get some 7.2 V electronic stabilized power supplies with dummy plugs.

The only other power connection on the outside of the camcorder is probably at the hotshoe. But I have no idea if it is 7.2 V there or if power could be fed into the camcorder that way ... But a dummy flash doesn't sound much more attractive than a dummy battery!

I am using an Anton Bauer Titan 70 combined charger/power supply on the back of the H1. But then you need more (expensive) stuff too and also get a charger you did not want.

Good luck! / Johan

Thanks

as I had mentioned, I will likely splice a power supply into the DC-920 'dummy plug' that is unless someone manufactures one already

Brian,
You could get the Anton Bauer Brick adapter which converts the 14.4 Volt power to 7.2 and run the cameras with an Anton Bauer On camera Power supply (if they still make them).
There is also a plate which lets the brick adapter take a regular 4 Pin power supply
SO-XLR Adapts any Gold Mount to accept a standard 4 pin XLR connector.

A pretty high price point but you never know what people have lying around. There probably is another way to do this but you get the idea.
