Low light recording

Hi y'all,

Would anybody have any advice about using the XL1 in a low light situation? I'm going to be shooting a theater performance and know that some of the scenes are going to be fairly dark. Anything I can do to get good looking video anyway?

Test things at a dress rehersal so you can evaluate what works best.

Try 1/30 shutter for a bit more light.

Slip the lighting person $20 on the side for a bit more light.

Low Light

If you can, set up in the back of the room and use the spotlight setting on the camera. I've gotten some pretty awesome results that way. And make sure you white balance in the light you'll be shooting. Since they oftentimes change that lighting, balance for the middle range. And set your gain at 0db.
