will these lenses fit an XL1?

stupid question, will a fujinon A14x9 BERM-28 or a fujinon S14x7.3B12U fit an XL-1?

Not without some expensive modifications. The biggest problem is the hand grip on the Fuji lens. It will have to be removed in order to fit on the XL1, since the hand grip on the XL1 is built in and not removeable (two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time). Next, you'll have to machine a lens mount for the back of the Fuji lens in order to adapt it to fit the Canon XL lens mount, as the two are incompatible. Finally, since there will be no electronic communication between the lens and the body, you'll have a blinking "lens" warning flashing in the viewfinder all the time.

Not worth it. You need a Canon XL lens.

Chris, speaking of lenses

Was at a trade show on document storage, etc., in NYC a number of years ago (around 2001 or 2002 I think). The Canon booth included a video demo shot with the Canon 3D Concept lens and XL1, but they were not demo-ing the camcorder or lens. The video showed other Canon docuemnt management products. The viewing method was using relatively low resolution LCD screens (not quite as good as the XL1 CVF screen) in goggles.
Interesting, but not very pretty. The flaw was using alternate fields for left adn right eye, so the resolution was not very good. I suspect they could do great looking 3D video now with HD bandwidth available.
