I'd like to connect both L&R channels on the MA200 with this single 3pin XLR mono mic.

Anybody know how you wire up a cable, to add another male connector, is it as easy as dividing the cable to the two connectors?

Rather than the hassle of one xlr from mic to two xlrs...If you want the signal/sound to come from one mic source into both R&L RCA channels into the camera I would just get a dual adapter from the RCA plugs...a hell of a lot more simple. And rather than use the fixed RCA lead (heaven knows why they fixed it....what if it gets a breakage?) take the XLR to the bottom set LEFT channel....then put the single to dual RCA adapter male to two female, to the two RCA cables into the regular RCA plugs on back of camera.

You can get the adapter for just over a quid at Maplin or CPC...which ever is nearer to you, or any Hi-Fi/DJ shop. A hell of a lot simpler than cutting up cables and soldering!!! And all for just over £1. Plus if you use the separate RCA cables...you can use a higher quality cables, than the fixed cable pair, if you want to.

Sorry forgot to ask you whether splitting the signal to L&R, will this effectively reduce the signal by half to each channel, or will I get the full volume to both channels now? (You can see I'm not that technical can't you, should have gone to school more)

Splitting the signal with a "Y" connector will result in some signal loss. How much depends on the impedance of the outputs and inputs. If everything is precisely 600 ohms (may not not be the case) it will be about a 3.5 dB loss.

Its like Don says...more of a soundman than me....my knowledge of techno sound stuff is limited. But I can tell you using the same set up as you the difference is minimal, I cannot tell the difference between the two. But never really looked deeply into it.
