Whoops!
 

So Friday I accidentally knocked my camera off of the editing desk, the firewire lead was into the camera and Mac when the phone rang, i spun around on the chair to answer it and one of the chair arms caught the lead and pulled the camera onto the floor, s*%t!!

It appeared to play back okay. On Saturday while at a job the camera was set up (this is a second shooters camera) and after a minute or two of recording the viewfinder went black. SOund could still be heard and the counter and tape was still running. Turning the camera on and off after removing the viewfinder lead and replacing it allowed it to work again for half a minute or so and then the black screen again.
When i've played the tape back on another machine you can hear the sound recording but no picture where it blacked out. I will be sending it for repair (insured) but just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem. Is it the viewfinder what's shot, or something else within the camera. I thought if it was just the viewfinder it may still record the picture even though you can't see it in the viewfinder, but this is not to be.
Needless to say, i've had to go and buy another camera in the meantime, although I got the XL2, what a difference!

Being an XL1 owner, At first I was excited to have it and liked to see the reaction of people when they saw me recording. although now that I have been making skits and videos, I dont feel that the video quality is as great as the camera looks! It doesnt seem to have that proffesional look. How much of a difference is the XL2???? does the picture look better?
