recording from 8mm cam to XL1 cam

Please help... I'm doing Audio/video out from my brother's 8mm camcorder with A/V cables and into my XL1 to record (dub) stuff he had shot onto a mini DV tape. Is this possible?

No. the XL1 does not record analog video input. But the XL1S and the Gl1 do.

To record from a 8mm camcorder you would eneed to have a converter in the signal path, such as the Sony DVMC-DA2.

If you have a lot of 8mm tape to convert to DV, or will have in the future, you could also look at the new Hollywood DV bridge (Dazzle) List is $299 which is a lot cheaper than the sony unit or buying another DV camera with analog in feature. Check it at www. dazzle.com.
