24 frames gives me 30- frames in timeline
 

I just shot my first wedding in "frame" movie mode on my xl1s, gl-2 and gl-1, which should give me 24 frames per sec. I captured in the same way as I did with "normal" movie mode. When i put a clip on the timeline that is one second long, it contains 30 frames (29.97). So is the reality that i really cant shoot 24 frames per sec with my Canon Cameras?

No, you can't shoot 24p with any camera except the DVX100 (in this price range).

Not sure where you go the idea that you could shoot 24fps on an XL1, hope it wasn't from here.

On the other hand, if your footage looks good, it doesn't matter what FPS it was shot in.

Dylan is absolutely correct, no 24 fps mode on the XL1(S). Frame
mode is a sort of (important!) progressive mode. So your footage
won't be coming out as interlaced, but it isn't fully progressive
either.

Especially Dylan's last remark is king, who cares as long as it looks
good!

Trig, the Frame Movie mode on Canon camcorders is 30 fps, not 24. Hope this helps,

Thanx everyone. I do like the look of 30 frames ranther than 60 frames interlaced. It does give it a film look and that does appeal to me. We'll see what the client thinks in a week or two.
