Canon XL1 & XL1S Batteries / Battery Options

I am using the ma 200 with dual battery mounted on it, there is no battery indicator in the viewfinder showing use left, is this normal? I have the xl1s.

Lenmar Battery

I just bought a Canon XL1s camera and heard about the longer battery life as compared to the Canon batteries. My question before buying a Lenmar is:

Can I use the same charger my XL1s came with to charge the Lenmar batteries?

Thanks,
Ron

Yes!

Hi George,

I just did a quick test with mine and don't have a battery indicator either. Maybe that is why they put the "Check" button on the CH910. I've been very pleased with the stamina of the Canon 945 batteries, getting two full hours of recording with time left, so had decided that I probably wouldn't be using two batteries very often.

thanks Ed for your reply, will use one battery, I just thought the balance of the camera was improved with both batteries on board, although it made the whole works heavier to handle.

I never trust the battery indicator anyway. On a fully charged battery it will show 100% full. After a bit of use and maybe a couple of times of turning the camera on and off the indicator will show the battery at 50% A bit more use and it is back up to 100%. I have the original XL1 (not the XL1s)... I know I know... I am using outdated equipment... insert collective "eeeeewwwwww!!!" here. I feel like I'm the only one on these boards who doesn't have the super futuristic and much advanced XL1s. I'd like one, though.

Even the little Lenmar (I forget the number) works pretty long for its size...I keep one in my pocket for backup, and it is so skinny I barley notice it is in there. Handy!

Can I buy these online? I'm from europe (Holland) and
it's very difficult overhere to get hold of special video
equipment. I own a creditcard so I can order over the
internet. Ofcourse my preference here goes to a party
I can trust :)

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that B&H in New York (www.bphoto.com) will ship overseas. They're the gold standard for photo and video equipment vendors over here.

URL for 3rd party batts?

Anyone have a url handy for 3rd party batteries???

ronluc8667 January 11th, 2002 11:13 PM

I ordered a few from:

http://www.pricesrite.com/accessories-batteries-camcorders-lenmar.html

They seemed to be one of the least expensive places on the internet. Apparently they have shipped but I have not received them yet. I'm supposed to get them early next week.

My whole outfit is powered by Lenmar. No problems for the past year - no charging memory or loss of power, consistent even in cold weather, somewhat durable.

Been told about below link for pricing, but haven't heard about service.

And great tape prices too...

I have religously ordered tape from Pro-Tape. Great service.

Sony DVM-60PR2Regular price: $6.33
Online Special: $4.75 per 100

Best deal in town. And hey, they are so good they can afford to have teeny bopper pop stars work for them, like Christine Aguilara in accounting. :)

B&H even sells PAL gear. I sent a co-worker to them cuz he needed a PAL camcorder to take back to the UK with him
