XL1 Award

Hey all,
I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but I just received news that I won an associated press award for best photography in Pennsylvania, and I owe it all to my trusty little Xl1!!! Scratch one up for the little guy!!!

Ken Tanaka April 29th, 2002 10:31 PM

Hearty congratulations to you, Daniel! Grab a beverage and meal with friends and savor the moment!

For what type of work did you receive this work? I'm imagining it's news coverage-related.

Bruce Moore April 29th, 2002 11:01 PM

GREAT! The more people see the XL-1, and the awards it's user's get, the more it will be accepted by the pros and improved by Canon.

little confused

This might sound silly- but is the term "photography" also used when referring to videography?

I just assumed it usually meant "stills" as with traditional cameras.

Bill Ravens April 30th, 2002 03:22 PM

Kudos to you and your PAL...sorry for the pun, I couln't help it.

Rob Lohman April 30th, 2002 04:32 PM

Congrats to you! Any links or footage of what earned the
award would be fun to see!

Steve, photography is also used in film/movies. Hence the
Director of Photography etc. Photography is just the expression
just when "capturing" an imagen (on film traditionally). Be
it still (which is film as well) or moving. Now we capture on
CCD but we still "capture" an image, so yes, photography
still exist...

One thing you also see often when people also "shot"
their own movie is: Directed and photographed by X

Hope this explains it a bit
