Best way to capture video onto my computer?
What would be the best way to capture video to my computer? I take it there are better ways than through my onboard firewire door?
Thanks (: |
Well, the best way would be to use a miniDV deck, which will still use a firewire cable to feed into your computer. That saves wear and tear on your camera. They start at around $800, and have been discussed many, many times here before. Just do a search for "miniDV deck" using the search function and you'll find lots of info.
If you are looking for a better solution than Firewire, you could try sitting your tapes on top of your computer and letting it absorb the info through osmosis... :) |
I vote for firewire transfers. Like Dylan, I like using a MiniDV Deck but any camera or convertor device which connects via firewire should also work.

I'm assuming you are talking about the firewire on your computer?
Why are you saying there would be a better way? I've seldom seen a better working connection then that. It's pretty much plug and play and fully digital. What more could you want. A seperate DV deck will safe on wear and tear on your camera. |
