Airplane Travel w/ XL1

I know a similar question about this was asked by a person flying to France. However, my trip is much shorter (NY to Balt.). I also have a Canon hard case and was wondering if there is a way to take it onto the plane despite its large size and how I would go about doing so? If not, what would you suggest is the best way to pack it as check in luggage? I have foam inserts for the case that protect somewhat, but no key for the locks or anything. Would it be possible to simply tape the entire case up to ensure it wouldnt open, or would airport security become suspicious of that? Anyone with any experience would be a big help.

Thanks,
Trent

Mmm, Trent, I don't know, frankly I really don't like that particular case at all. I wish I could have talked you out of buying that thing. It is the larger one, isn't it. Anybody have any ideas?

I'd go to a lacksmith, he probably has a key.

Then I'd spray paint it matte or flat black.

Drag it through the dirt a few times and make it look like an old nothings in it case.

That should reduce it's eye appeal by about 90+%!

Good luck

I agree that it is not the best case, but it came with the camera when I bought it from a rental house. I've only had it a few weeks or else I would have bought a different one. Luckily it is fairly beat up (as rental cases tend to be) so that will hopefully make it look less expensive.
