Canon XL1s lens: useable on digital SLR cameras?

Hello! currently own an XL1s with the standard lens, and was looking into digital cameras such as the Canon Rebel and was wondering if anyone out there has been able to use the XL1s' lens on the Rebel (with an adapter, of course), or if the lenses aren't compatable in this way.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, as I've come up with little to nothing about an XL1s lens on a digital SLR.

Thanks so much for any help!

To my knowledge, no. Usually it's the other way around. That is, XL1s owners often want to use 35mm lenses via Canon's EF adapter.

To date I've come up with very nearly no information about it at all. I was hoping to finda way to do it so that I could have only one set of interchangeable lens with filters etc, as I'm working with a very limited budget at the moment.

The aperture on an 8mm lens is way too small for the use on a 35mm format. You'd get excessive and unacceptable vignetting.

Thanks so much for the replies, all, I'm glad those out there were able to answer my question. :) Looks like I'll have to go with a non dSLR until finances are better. :-/

Note that unless the CCD are the same size on both devices (camcorder and camera), the field of view produced will be different. Mounting a 35 mm still film camera lens on an XL1 nets about a 7.2x increase in effective telephoto effect. That is, your 50 mm standard still film lens produces a field of view comparable to a 360mm lens when on the XL1.
