One mic only stereo - possible?

Hi guys and girls,

I'm recording a show.. it's in a very loud music club, so I'm only using one handheld mic (wireless, EW135 Sennheiser)

Now the director needs to hear what people are saying, so I have him next to me with the headphones on.

When I'm using audio1, with the MA-100, he can only hear the sound on the left side, which is normal, but a pain in the a**.. of course. I also tried connecting to the camera-mic input to have the wireless mic recorded (and LISTENED to) in stereo, but that one gives always a lot of buzz/hiss to start with. I'd rather have the clean sound coming from the audio1 mic INPUT.

Is there a way to have the handheld mic come into both channels (left and right) other than using the small plug into the cameramic-input?

thx in advance,
Mark

Get an XLR splitter, a "Y" cable, so that you can feed your mic to both channels at once. You should be able to find one at Radio Shack or just about any music store. Hope this helps,

What Chris says - or- just mix it to both channels in post. That way you will still have another channel to run audio into if you need it.

thx

Thanks guys for your help.. I'll have a look at that splitter-thing.. Mixing in post is no option as it's all about listening to the mic on headphones while recording..

regards,
Mark

I've got a relatively cheap set of Maxwell headphones I use for this situation. It's got a "mono" switch on it , so I can listen through both ears. It would be pretty easy to rewire a set of headphones for mono, or just use adapters. I wouldn't use a splitter before the signal is recorded.
