Viewfinders and left eye users.
Dear all. I am just about to buy my first XL1S but need the guideance of some of you old-timers.
I am almost blind in my right eye which with most lower grade cameras isn't a problem. I have heard that the XL1s has a sliding viewfinder, so it should be ok with my almost perfect left eye. Would you expect me to have any problems? Many thanks, Brighton Bob, England. |
It should work just fine, there is plenty of lateral movement to allow shooting with either the left or right eye.

From a hopelessly left-sided person...
Works fine. I am so left-dominant that I can't close my left eye only at all. I was quite concerned about this issue when I bought the camera in an internet auction. I had read about the sliding viewfinder, but wondered how it would work. It is just fine.

Thanks
Really good to know. Thanks very much. Not worried at all now and just confirmed my order.
This site is very handy isn't it? Many thanks, BB. |
I think the sliding viewfinder is one of the best, and most forgotten featuers of the XL1(s) cameras.
And you are right, this site is awsome! Thumbs up to Chris! |
Nice surprise that one was for me.
I'm very left eye dominant. Using the camera with both eyes open, I can see the controls with my peripheral vision in my right eye. The camera is actually better suited for left eye viewing than right. |
