XL1 detail

I have read about changing the setting for detail on the XL1S. Is there a way to change it on the older XL1?

Thanks.

There is no such adjustment on either camera.

err, ah, there's a sharpness control in the XL1s which I would classify as a detail circuit...?

Indeed, "sharpness" would be the closest adjustment to a "detail" adjustment on the XL1.

When I think of a detail control I think of the labeled "Detail" control found on the DVX100/A and its big brothers. It does not seem to act as an edge-enhancer as "sharpness" does, but rather it seems to resolve each scan line more intensely.

interesting!

I haven't really explored all this, primarily because my rule of thumb with any circuit like this is "leave it alone...!"

I believe that was one of the new features on the "S" model. The original XL1 probably does not have it.

I doubt the original one has it. It is under custom presets (which
the XL1 doesn't have) on the S model.

You are all right, the original XL1 doesn't have the sharpness control.

I'll second what Jean-Phillipe said. However, my 953 DOES have a sharpness control FWIW.

I shoot with a guy who has a XL-1s and I tell him he has to match to my camera cause I can't go the other way.
