XL1 needs new transport . . . COST?
 

Hi,

my XL1 has had so much use that the transport is nearly kaput.
I cannot record on the first five minutes, nor the last twenty because
of SEVER dropouts.
Anyone out there had this repair and what it would cost?

I'm thinking of hitting the trash can with the camera body and
investing in an XL2, but if this repair is only a grand, it may be
worth fixing.

Jacques is it an XL1 or XL1S? If it's an XL1S then it might be worth the transport replacement which I believe is around $800 or so, but don't quote me -- you should find out directly from CUSA. If we're talking about an older XL1 (not XL1S0, then it's time to upgrade, man.
