I was wondering if anyone out there has any reccomendations on where to get equipment ins. (for a non home owner) and if anyone has bought insurance for their equipment what the price range seems to be, just looking for standard if its stolen or if I become a complete ass and drop it off a balcony...

thx

* * RENTERS INSURANCE * *

I bought renters insurance which covers everything in my apartment up to 25,000.00 with a 250.00 deductible.

It is throught STATE FARM INSURANCE.

Give them a call they might be able to help.

Mine is at, I think, around 137.00 a year. I also live in New York City... HAR HAR... I assume higher costs...

Cheers!

If you pay a little more you can get a rider to a renters policy with no deductible if you feel more comfortable that way (first dollar coverage). I've had several friends have claims on their State Farm camera coverage and State Farm paid very promptly.

Does the rider cover theft when being used for business use? I have heard that insurance companies tend to frown on this sort of activity.

That is going to vary from company to company. Many of the bigger, national insurance company try to limit their liability on theft and mysterious disappearance. When I had real business insurance theft was included and I had a claim for about $30,000 when one of the vans was broken into. A renters or homeowners policy may limit or exclude coverage for theft. Ask your agent these same questions.
