XL1s standared lens

First of all sorry if this has come up on a thread before.

I have just got a XL1s,the problem is when i fit the standard lens all i get in the v/finder in red is check lens and then it goes to white and flashes, yes i have tried it lots of times with the same results you can see through the lens but it won't focus or zoom,

I bought the camera on ebay from Canon outlet and it was only supposed to be everything but no lens, this one came with the lens! and i thought i had got a bonus (not to be) the camera is sold by a company who are a Canon branded resellers and comes as refurbished.

The camera is brand new and works fine with another none canon lens, so it looks like the lens could be the problem, does anyone know if the lens if faulty could be repaired or shall i have to sourse another one.

Ian,

I am not familiar with where you can get the lens repaired but I do have an XL1s automatic 16X Lens that is for sale. Let me know if you are interested.

Regards,
Frank

If the lens came free of charge, then I'd give it a full check over - look closely at mount, see if all connectors are clean, all screws tight etc. Also try the lens on another Xl1/s/2 to see if it works on them. If all fails, then get a quote to fix it, and if it's going to be a lot cheaper than buying another, just go for it!
