manual lens for xl1

Please could you tell me if the 16 manual lens has a moter zoom
built in. If so would this work off the rocker switch on my xl1 body.
Another question I film dancing in a hall movement is fast.
The couple move around the floor, size is 60ft by 25ft.
Could I get away with using the standard lens in manual mode and take an average focus, then just zoom in and out. I know on auto focus no chance it will be in and out of focus.
If this will not work I guess I have to buy the manual 16x lens, would the picture be better ie sharper with this lens compared to the standard auto focus lens.
many thanks for any help

Yes, and yes. See www.dvinfo.net/canon/xl1s-skinny.htm#newlens for more info. Hope this helps,

It's a pity URLs posted in messages aren't actually linked. Is there a reason you disabled linking? Or is there a specific way you do it with the board software?

Chris Hurd October 23rd, 2002 09:02 AM

Linking has been off primarily for quality control purposes -- but I've been thinking about activating it for regular, established users with a number of posts under their belt. It is about time, isn't it?

Chris,

I am used to being able to post pictures and links, as well as many other things within a forum. This is not an extremely active forum in comparison to the www.overclockers.com.au/forums which can have around 500 members on at any one time.

I think it would be great to put links and display pictures in threads and so on, i will even do content moderating for u if u wish.

It is also possible to put a symbol in the thread so that before people enter it lets them know there are pictures in it and can be more bandwidth intense.

anyways,

kermie

p.s my best friend is a PHP programmer who actually teaches professors and corp programmers how to code better, so i am confident in his skills if you ever need some absolute coding guru.

Chris, I don't understand the "quality control purposes" phrase but I heartily agree that it is about time for the activation of linking.

Linking and images would be excellent. A picture is worth a thousand words, hehe. Often times I've wanted a visual description of a good tripod head, or something, cuz quite frankly other online resources are terrible (even some manufacturer's sites) at _showing_ what you're getting for your cash.

Have rules though. I understand your desire to maintain a professional atmosphere. Just permit linking to relevant resources, and as far as images go, don't allow avatars, signature pictures (they get so big and annoying). Keep any pictures relevant to the post and in good taste. Easy rules to follow.

By popular demand, you can now post direct links, instead of typing out inactive URL's as it has been in the past around here.

Here's all you gotta do to make a link active:

Add "url" and "/url" inside SQUARE brackets on either side of the link. Example:

[ url ] www.dvinfo.net [ /url ]

Be sure you don't have any empty spaces between the enclosing brackets and the "url" and "/url" within, or the actual link itself. I had to type the example above with empty spaces in order for you to see it.

---------------------

Sandy: by quality control, I'm referring to spamming links, inappropriate content, unauthorized dealers, that kinda stuff.

---------------------

Kermie: sorry my friend, don't get your hopes up about the images, it took me a year just to make the linking active.

---------------------

Hope this helps,
