Can I power my Marshall monitor from my XL1S?

Hello All:

I have an XL1S, and I've recently bought a used Marshall V LCD4 Pro monitor to put on top of it. I have the ac, and battery and charger for the monitor, but the battery for it makes the whole unit (camera + monitor) a little front heavy. Is there some way I can power the monitor straight from my XL1S? Thanks for helping out a newbie!
Sincerely,
Bruce Marusich

The battery in your XL1s is 7.2volts. The display is *probably* 12 volts. You may lookinto some of the oem battery packs for the XL1s as they may provide you with a 12v tap. There are devices that convert the 7.2 XL1s batteries to 12 volts. That doesn't solve your problem but perhaps is an interesting alternative.

you should check this out. i'm using this to power my marshall.

it's much lighter than the optional brick battery marshall offers with the unit.

FWIW:, the 5 volt outputs on the XL1 series are intended for powering low load items such as the Canon microphones, the MA100/200 adapters and the RF output adapters. They are not suitable for powering things like a LCD monitor.

Thanks for the input!

Powering Multiple Devices- Various Voltages- One Power Source

Anton/Bauer System will allow you to power multiple components from one battery. The Battery bracket XL1/2 mounts to the back of the camera.
This bracket has a voltage converter that allows 7.2 volts to power the camera, and gives you a PowerTap output to power other acessories. You can add a PowerTap multi-- this will allow you to power the camera and 4 other accessories-- all from the same battery. For example- a light, wireless receiver, monitor and Hard disc recorder.

Here is a link showing an older XL-1 using the Anton/Bauer battery with a light.
