Second Stereo Pair (ST2)

We have just made a recording using the second stereo pair to record the soundtrack (Canon XL1S). We can hear the sound when playback is on the camera, and it records fine onto a DVD (using analogue outputs). When we use the firewire connection to transfer to Pinnacle v10+, we get the picture fine, but no sound. (Sound is fine with tapes using first stereo pair). Setting on camera is 'mixed' (which we think should bring in both stereo pairs) but it still doesn't work.

Anyone else had this problem?

Hi Sue,

This is a limitation of the Pinnacle software... it doesn't have the ability to capture all four channels of audio. Perhaps somebody here will have a solution for you for getting that second stereo pair into your computer.

Thanks Chris,

We have come up with a work around - capture the video into pinnacle on one PC, the sound into Polderbit on another PC then move the sound across and pull it into Pinnacle. We than have to get the lipsync right, but it sems to work - a bit long winded though.

In the Pinnacle family, Liquid Edition supports 4-channel capture via firewire. You migh consider the upgrade if you like Studio 10 otherwise.

There are some moderat priced third party capture porgrams that do 4-channel sound as well. I do not recall the name, but there are threads covering it here.
