Furry Equalizer: Useful or PETA Bait

Just bought Lightwave "furry" equalizer for the standard XL-1 mic. I don't usually use that mic but thought it would be useful for outdoor use (nature, etc.). Curious about other's experiences with it. What does it do to voices? How much wind will it stand up to? Probably shouldn't use it at a PETA rally, huh. They don't even like fake fur.

Actually, from my experience, these types of groups are more interested in just getting themselves on camera and probably won't care. Not knocking Canada, but I would definately recommend NOT using this if you happen to be shooting in Canada. I made the mistake of wearing a leather bomber jacket with fake sheepskin lining and was called nearly every name in the book. Not sure if it was the leather, the fur, or both. Of course you get this in the USA too.

I've found myself using my "furry" almost everywhere now - indoors and out. It seems to do a good job of filtering out low frequency background noise such as traffic, air condition units, and camera tap noise.

At a PETA rally you way wish to bring along a shotgun. No, I don't mean a microphone....

Random incidednt. Never happened to me or anyone I've known here.

I have a cheap knock off windscreen which is basicaly just fake fur. It's a $80 POS made with $2 of fake fur, but it does an amazing job in medium to heavy winds.
