XP not noticing XL1
 

I am trying to connect my XL-1 to my laptop to try out DV Rack. My problem is that my laptop completely ignores the XL1 when I connect the firewire cable - like nothing happened at all. When I pull it out of the XL1 and plug it in to the ZR-80 it bleeps and fires up like a champ. I put the cable back on the XL1 and again it is completely snubbed.

Any input on why this would happen?

I seem to remember hooking the XL to my desktop and having it recognized, but for whatever reason I was unable to capture video with it.

Are there any internal settings on the XL1? Or is mine just broke?

I would try it out on another desktop and possibly try out another firewire cable just to be sure. If it still doesn't work, you should send it to Canon so they can look into it.

it should work if your other cam works.. but try it on another pc just to make sure before you send it to canon

XL1 powered in VCR mode?
Try having the XL1 on before you boot the PC
