Canon 7.2 Li-Ion to 12V adapter.
 

Hi all, I'm trying to put together a decent quality TFT setup for field shooting (tired of hauling a 14" around all the time). I'm expecting a 7.2" TFT display with Panasonic screen in the mail any moment now, and would like to power it using 7.2V Canon batteries, to simplify the situation.

Nebtek equips their own displays with an adapter plate that converts 7.2V to 12V, and they sell the adapter separately for $135 (http://www.nebtek.com/poweropt.html). I've seen one sold in the UK for even more.

Does anyone know of a place to get these cheaper?

Thanks for the help, and I'll let you know how it works out. If the display is decent (it's a Panasonic TFT part), it's an excellent kit for less then $400 total, including the adapter plate.

Nope, I took the plunge and got one from ebay... It's a 7.2" TFT display, which was advertised as having a Panasonic display. 1440x234 pixels. Got it for $230 or something.

It just came in and I'll have to do some work on it, since it's an in-dashboard model, but I'll keep you posted.

If this works out it's a cost effective solution :-)

The Nebtek price is very reasonable, I don't think it can be beat. Only problem for you is overseas shipping.

I saw that Nebtek Canon battery adapter and was about to buy one, instead I got a 12v-AA battery pack from this website

I made a connector cable that goes from the monitor to the battery pack with parts from an electronics store. I took the car adapter that came with the monitor and cut off the part that goes into the monitor and I got a female connector that fits the battery pack plug and just sodered it on. now I can use my canon batteries for my camera and the AA batteries can be bought anywhere.

This set up was less than US$20, it's a little bulky but I saved a lot of money, I made another battery pack for my other monitor and also for the wireless transmitters that I got from the same site, a small 2.4 gighertz transmitter. So now I transmitt the camera signal to my small monitor and some one else can monitor the shot and everything is battery powered, (monitor and transmitter and receiver) and wireless.

This webstore does ship overseas, they sent the stuff to me in Japan.
