hookin up three mics?
 

Ok, I know the answer is in here somewhere and I've just been unable to find it, so here I go, I just need a basic step by step on how to feed one ME66 and two e100 wireless mics to a mackie 1202 mixer and then to a XL1s. Is it by a y cable?

Somehow I feel like I should be paying someone somewhere for all this help. Thanks for any help.

I'm not familiar with the use of a mackie, but I assume that it would be the same as any other mixer. You decide which channels are used by which input. Then, you assign the output to whichever channles are used.

Example: You have a mic on inputs 1,2, and 3, Assign them to channels 1,2, and 3. Then, when the levels are set, you assign channels 1,2, and 3 to out put 1. Feed output one into your mic in on the cam.

The 1202 has 12 channels in and 2 out. You have several choices for output. The easiest way to send the mix to the XL1 is to use the line out of the Mackie (RCA tape out) to Audio 1 on the XL1. Set the XL1 to line level on Audio 1 and you're all set.

If you have a long run you might want use XLR cables (balanced). Plug the XLR cables into the back of the 1202 and set the small switch to the right (on the back) to mic level. Plug the XLR cables into MA-100 or MA-200 on the XL1 and set to mic level.

3 mics on seperate audio tracks in post?
 

Now how do I have each mic(2 lavs 1 me66) to an assigned audio track in post(Premier 6.5)? I know these mics are mono so audio L and R are filled by two, but how do I get a third mic in while keeping 16bit?

The XL1 has only 2 channels of 16bit audio. You can either record to an external recordr offering more than 2 channels or use your mixer to mix the 3 mics (mono) to 2 channels and record it to the XL1. The later will give you only 2 channels, not the 3 you want in Premiere. The external recorder is only limited by your budget.

Thanks, would it be possible to recommend recording devices...also the Tascam d4 being 2 channel is the same situation (Line) wise as the Xl1s?

Post your question in Open DV and you'll get some suggestions. Also, use the search function. This topic has been discussed several times. I've used Sony DAT recorders, but they are very expensive.
