Wide angle lens and windscreen

When I use the wide angle Canon lens with the windscreen attachment on the standard mic zoomed out, I can see the furry attachment in the video. Not good. I am aware of some of the options, most of which require me to disengage the mic from the camera. I use a wheelchair as my main mode of transportation, and my hands are ALWAYS full. Is a matte box the answer? If not, what? By the way, I love this camera!

Try mounting the mic a little higher. I assume you're using the LightWave Systems Equalizer wind screen. Try it with the LightWave Systems Mini-Mount, it'll position the mic a bit higher or off to the side if you want; which should keep it out of the wide-angle field of view.

Yes, off to the side works best and don't forget to turn the mic so the left and right is in the correct position. Even better is to take it off when indoors. I did a whole wedding reception with that 'furry' guy in all my footage! I never noticed until I got home. I had to edit it in letter box style!! It looked cool but took time.

Hi.

Which wide angle attachment did you get and where did you get it from? I was thinking of purchasing one soon.

Thanks.

Bear with me, as I have almost no mechanical inclination to speak of. Yes, I am using the Lightwave Systems windscreen. I have the Lightwave Systems Mini-Mount , but the diameter of the Canon mic is too small to fit, seems like I need a longer screw to hold it in place, or an adapter. It works fine with my Sennheiser shotgun, but it is narrower in diameter and comes with an adapter.

I have the Canon 3x lens, not an attachment. Got it from Profeel, good price, average service. Getting my accessories from CZG, didn't know about them till recently.

Whoops, I meant ZGC.com. I never get those darn letters in the right order!

Eric, with the LightWave Systems Mini-Mount, there is supposed to be a small plastic collar, a bushing that adapts the Mini-Mount inner diameter down to the diameter of the Canon mic. Sounds like that bushing didn't get shipped or has been lost (it slips out of the Mini-Mount easily). Contact ZGC or LightWaveSystems.com for a replacement. Hope this helps,

Called ZGC and it's on the way, thanks.
