Green frame with CineformHD output
 

Has anyone else seen this. I rendered out a cineformHD file
and a complete green frame gets inserted. I have no idea
where it comes from, but obviously it doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Try tech support as clearly that is not normal.

I have 3 tech support tickets open right now. Nothing seems to be
normal with this software. I opened this forum question just to get
an idea if anyone else has seen this. I will open another ticket, but
this is really frustrating.

* I can't create a DVD because there are artifacts and black frames in
the output.
* I can't create a cineformHD file because of artifacts and green frames.
I've also noticed a greening of the color(ticket open)
* In PPro I can't even play the whole 1 minute timeline because it randomly
chooses to freeze a frame. Not to mention the color shift and artifacts in
the preview window.
* I've had windows media player crash or freeze on a frame when I try
to view cineformHD files. (ticket open)
* HDLink works about 50% of the time. Otherwise it crashes.... (ticket open)

I not trying to be a pain, but I have tickets open with support, no solutions
right now and a project that is due next week. I'm really frustrated at the
apparent quality of the CineForm AspectHD. Everything just seems to be
broken...

Okay, sorry for the rant.... Just venting some frustration....

As far as a media player, I would get Media Player Classic.

Much, much better program than WMP, and only 1 small file, and not prone to crashes or other annoying problems.

I've actually had footage glitches before that did NOT show up in premiere at all, but show up on export to tape, and managed to track them down using this program. It's also much more flexible as far as setting aspect ratio, etc etc. Unfortunately, that's the only problem you've listed that I have any advice for, wish I could help more!

Thanks for the info about the classic media player. I will
try and search for this program and get it installed. Hopefully
I'll be able to debug some of the issues.

This may be way off the true cause however here goes.

Sometimes, my copy of Premiere Pro 2 will play to the end of the timeline then step forward one frame into black. When the hext clip is inserted, this black frame will remain.

It is not always obvious on subsequent playback unless you have used a crossfade transition when it sticks out like a poisoned thumb.

My normal practice now is to make sure I check the timeline monitor screen, work with the timeline itself expanded, periodically check for gaps, also step back one or two frames into the previous clip when inserting.

Of course there is an added chore of cleaning all the tiny trims off the end of the timeline at job's completion for the session.

Thanks for your suggestion, but the issue that I'm seeing is slightly
different. When I originally saw it I was hoping I did something stupid
like a gap in the footage. Alas, on closer inspection, the frame is during
a clip.... I have filed a ticket and have been working with support...
Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

I do no thave all the issues that you have, however I have seen the "random green frame" glitch on a few occasions. Usually it is after the entire project is finished and I render it out. They magically appear on the final CF render but are not in the timeline or the preview.

Because of time constraints I had to delete these individual frames from the final movie. Nobody but me noticed. Doesn't happen a lot but I have seen it 3-4 times.

I've also had that weird green frame thing as well on several different projects. I really dont remember what I did to resolve, but for some reason I think I just deleted the clips that had the errant frames. however once I graduated to prospect, I havent seen it a single time.

dont give up on aspect yet, it's better to have than to have not. but with all those issues I can see where the frustration would come from. are there any other bugs in ur pc (corrupted software, bad hard drive) that may be leading to these issues? post your entire workflow/settings so maybe some pointers can be thrown your way to work out the issues.

At least, until it put me thru the wringer and VLC Media Player bailed me out yesterday. Just goes to show... any piece of software/hardware that you've been able to trust for 5+ years does not mean you can rely on it tomorrow!

Green Frames
 

Are you rendering footage with FX on them?
I have noticed I get a green frame if I render with a non RT FX over or under a CF FX. My fix is to apply each FX one at a time, then render to cfavi, then add next FX, render to cfavi, etc. I normally don't get green frames using just CF FX.
