Can Cineform Convert PAL to 23.976 during capture?

Or during conversion? Anyone do this? Does it work well?

Thanks
Mike

25p to 23.976p is easy, and has a very low compute overhead as only the audio needs processing. Video frames are simply re-time-stamped at 23.976. While this does slow the image down 4%, is the standard operation, and has no visual side effects.

I've captured in 50i, used Cineform to deinterlace and slow down 4.1% to give 23.97p. Works like a charm!

Cineform's conversion tool, HDLink, is setup-wise rather simple, but contains all the needed deinterlacing/pulldown removal/180 degree flip/etc etc things you probably want to do at conversion. I actually had quite a lot of fun experimenting with different methods of capture and conversion using my Z1 and HDLink to achieve different effects and framerates. :D

If you capture your footage from tape using HDLink, you can have it automatically convert them to Cineform on capture, and keep just the Cineform, or keep Cineform and m2t.

Download the trial, give it a shot!

Thanks gentleman, that is what I wanted to here! Carl, do you have a sample clip to see the look? Or some pal footage to do a test convert?

Thanks
Mike

Sure, shoot me an e-mail through here and I'll send you a link to a random m2t. :)
