960x540?

I've been trying Aspect/Prospect HD Trial. Is is possible to downscale 1440x1080 mpeg/m2t files to 960x540 cineform avi?

I have had great success with green screen work using uncompressed avi this way. I think due to having that much color info from the original 1080 file compared to DV. But the file sizes are too big to be manageable. So I attempted to use the same method with the cineform codec but I get an error due to wrong height and width.

I use after effects to scale down the clips. Scaling down to 1280x720 works pretty well but I thinks it overkill and 720x480(1.2) works ok but I get better quality with my 960x480 method. Ive had best results with the 960x480 rez.

I is it possible to get that rez with the cineform codec?

Yes, although we have a horizontal limitation of divisible by 8 (although this is slowly going away), vertically we have no restrictions. I just confirmed 960x540 and 960x480 exports from AE to CineForm with no issues (AVI and MOV.)

I'll try again, in the export options I select cineform avi then either medium or higher HD, is this correct?

Also, I can make my own present in Premeire to make 960x540 30fps and cineform HD codec, Is there any issues with using that for editing?, or is it wise to stick with the presets built in?

It turns out 540 high YUV images on the shipped version of our software is an issue, I was testing with the next pending release which works fine. However, create custom CineForm edit mode presets, may not work for all resolutions. Some of the pipeline acceleration is expecting standard sizes, so you my find it better in desktop mode.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Does Prosepct HD handle this better? Or is it something that can/will be resolved in future updates?

960x540 is not a market we are targeting, so other than the current bug fixes we aren't planning to evolve this mode. It working pretty well, but it will be up to you if it is enough.
