Converting H264 files

I have tried converting AVCHD files (.m2ts) with HDLink and it works flawlessly and amazingly quickly using a new workstation with the QX9650 chip.

However, I can't convert H264 files although they will play using Nero 8, which means that I have the correct decoder installed.

I thought .m2ts and H264 were both essentially the same, meaning AVCHD. Guess not.

Is there any way to convert H264 files so I can edit them using Aspect?

Many thanks...Marty
