Prospect HD 10 Bit Question

I understand that Prospect HD Link converts and brings 8 bit 4:2:0 footage into a Prospect HD project as an extrapolated 10 bit 4:2:2 clip.
My question is what happens when you import an Aspect HD 8 bit CFHD.avi into the Prospect HD timeline? Does it remain "8 bit", or does Prospect handle the clip in 10 bit format for purposes of manipulation (e.g. color correction), rendering, and transcoding (DVD, etc.) from the timeline.
In other words: If I want the full benefit of the ProspectHD 10 bit features, do all of the clips need to be originally converted to CFHD by Prospect? Can I use pre-existing Aspect CFHD clips, or do I need to go back and recapture those clips in Prospect HD Link?

Aspect HD for at last 18 months has internally used the same 10-bit format as Prospect HD, yet only in Prospect HD do you get to use those extra bits. You do not need to recapture footage.
