Future : Flash Xdr / Nanoflash & Cineform
David ,
Will HD Link be able to ingest / convert the Long Gop and I-Frame encoded MPEG files delivered by Flash XDR ? Given their stated bitrates 50/100/160 via HDSDI as an affordable portable medium, the better bitrate MPEGS combined with the Cineform factor seems like an "Affordable" Higher bitrate MPEG medium. |
Herman, I suspect the files should work. We haven't specifically looked at Flash XDR files, but if anybody has files and wants to shoot them our way we'll take a look. We often use www dot yousendit dot com to send files up to 100MB for free. The files can be sent to support at cineform dot com.

Thanks David,
Will try to spot first flash xdr owners in order to obtain a sample clip. |
David, Here are some files from the XDR
http://dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=124130 I tried to convert with pull down but ended up with a green screen |
bumping to the top... any idea on supporting the XDR footage ??
|
MOV MPEG will not work. Is there an option not to record a stand MPEG file, i.e to an MOV format. Something like MPG or M2T should work.
|
Not sure, could you ask Mike Schell (convergent designs)
here is a thread that you can get his email from... http://dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=124811 |
We've launched the request to Mike for some files....
|
Any news on testing a flash XDR file via Cineform ?
|
Mike didn't reply. I've resent the request to him for some files to test.
|
I believe they're still finishing the software/firmware. I'd say there's little use testing with pre-release files to "certify" a workflow.
Give 'm some time to get to release; should be a week or two from what I gather. I'm sure files will be made available then. George/ |
DV Info member David Schmerin has managed to get his hands on a 50 Mbs 4-2-2 MXF CLIP.
thread / FLASH XDR / http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=125503 Hopefully the Cineform Team could help with a prelim. Cineform Test in this regard ? |
Didn't want to beat a dead horse in that thread, but it is actually a PDW-700 .mxf there.
Although the XDR uses the same codec it is used it at different encode settings and CD creates their own MXF files, which I'm sure are made to be as compatible as possible. However, we won't know until they are ready. Makes no sense to me to try and "will" things into existence. Give it some time. George/ |
