Vegas 8 32-bit floating point & Cineform .AVI files

I have a general question as a Sony Vegas user who also has NeoScene. Is it advisable to set up my project properties prior to laying down cineform video onto the timeline to adjust to a pixel format of 32-bit floating point?

I understand there is somewhat of a performance penalty for doing so however I'm trying to achieve the highest quality possible. Is the rendering difference using 32-bit fp noticeable in renders or is this a utility that really only helps out when doing heavy compositing. The answer to this question that has eluded me for some time.

I cut all my stuff at 8-bit. And then switch over to 32bit for grading and final render. Make sure you're patient, because the render times go through the roof! :)

Thanks Perrone for the information. I read somewhere that you shouldn't switch methods during an edit but I guess that must be bunk information.

I don't know. Maybe it's not. I just know what works for me, and what I like. After putting hundreds of hours into editing in Vegas, I'm comfy with my workflow.
