Neo HD Mac - AVCHD footage problem
 

Hi,

Any AVCHD (MTS) file I convert using the latest ReMaster corrupts the first few seconds of the footage but the rest is fine. The first few seconds looks pixelated.

The result is the same in any application that play's it.

What am doing anything wrong?

MTS and m2ts files are defined as streaming data and are a mix of I-, p-, and b- frames. You do not get a clear image until an I frame is read. Since the file may start anywhere in the stream, you do start with pixelated images until the first I-frame is decoded from the source. Normally this is anywhere from a few up to 15 or so frames. Your post indicates the "first few seconds" which does not seem normal.

What camera produced the footage? What was the bitrate, frame rate and image size?

When converting from a QuickTime source, ReMaster starts the conversion with the first I-frame. The I-frame is identified by the QuickTime movie header.

The footage is from the Panasonic HMC150, the video plays fine when converted to ProRes, no pixelated few seconds and same when playing the original MTS file.

Bitrate is PH(highest quality) mode 19 Mbs to 24 Mbs max @ 720/24p
