Best DVD Authoring for 24p

Adobe Encore (CS3) Can't handle 24p clips to produce DVDs. There's ghosting/jittery effects with motion. The clips are fine until exported to DVD.

The funny thing is that Encore doesn't even have to transcode the file. Their DVD spec is defined at 29.97 fps no matter what the clip frame rate is and the option is grayed out.

Cineform is fantastic so far; but can't get anything on DVD. I followed David Newman's methodology and everything flows until Encore tries to put it on DVD. I'm not talking about BD (H.264 codec etc...). I've not tested that since right now I want only DVD!

Does anybody know what is the BEST AUTHORING DVD software out there for PC that will allow me to produce 24p DVDs? We've just spent almost $10,000 building up the system of the century and I can't even have anything on DVD.

Or is the problem really with the Adobe MPEG-2 Encoder??? Be it done by Premiere or Encore?

If I use an encoder software like Vegas/DVD Architect, will the result (on the clip) be different and thus be able to produce 24p DVDs with Encore using the transcoded files from Vegas/DVD Architect?

Right now I'm so frustrated with Adobe!!!

Please HELP!!!!!!!!!

Hi Dave.

I only used your methodology, more than 50 times. The DVD still has motion ghosting artifacts.

Then either your 50 times worked, and only your 51st time failed, or you are extremely persistant. I know this method works, so will you need to consider what you are seeing as ghosting and address that. If the ghosting is not in the down res. 24p SD master (CineForm AVI), if encoded correctly to DVD-MPEG2 it will not appear in your final DVD. Load the 24p clip it VirtualDub and confirm there is no ghosting in your source.
