NeoScene pixelation of 5D Canon MKII videos
 

Dear Cineform users,

I have problem with converting Canon 5D videos by NeoScene. Converted files have some kind of pixelation.

On another forum I was recommended to try NeoHD instead of NeoScene. So I uninstalled NeoScene and installed NeoHD. It made the same pixelation problem. If anybody knows more, what's wrong with my setup, please help. There was no other software used. Just NeoScene and then NeoHD convertors:

This is a fault of the camera.I own an HFS10 and a 5D Mark II and they both have a problem with the downsampling from high resolutions to HD.

I did not downsample from hi-res. I wanna keep the same Full HD.

You must have sometime setup wrong in Vegas for your preview and frame grabs, as the image MOV and AVI are identical. Use VirtualDub (it is free) to confirm the AVIs are pixel for pixel correct.

Specifically, if you do not have your preview mode options in Vegas Pro set to "Best(Full)", the screen captures will not be of usable quality for troubleshooting. make sure you also have the Project options set to "Progressive, 1920 x1080", with no de-interlacing either there or in the preview settings. I'm sure that you have done so, but it doesn't hurt to point those items out.

Lukas - Not sure whether the problem lies with Neoscene or Vegas but I just wished to point out out that the cameras shoot higher than HD.The cameras downsample from higher resolutions to HD - 1920 x 1080.I have looked at your pictures and this is exactly what I get whether it is captured via HDMI (HFS10) or the built in codec.The camera sensors capture the image at a higher resolution than HD and the downsampling to HD leaves aliasing artifacts.Straight and parallel lines give the most problems.Roofing,checkered clothes and mesh can highlight this problem for example and in your picture you have lots of lines.The HFS10 uses 6 megapixels and the 5D Mark II uses the full sensor with pixel binning I think.The process of getting down to 1920 by 1080 is done in camera and leaves these lines you call pixelation.All the Cineform products do an excellent job of retaining the original images quality and certainly do not add any pixelation.If this is not the problem then ignore me.
As this is a screen shot - concur with Jay - he is on the money ...the other settings but Full on the preview give you pixelation.Full rarely gives real-time performance though.

Thank you ALL. Bought NeoScene. After the 64bit release, it is a must have.
