Cineform RAW: how to retain .look settings in post?

Capturing on a laptop from SI-2K into Cineform RAW, with certain .look's applied.

Editing on a different machine with Premiere Pro and After Effects, Prospect HD installed.

.look settings seem lost - ?

SI-2K stores all metadata in the sample, so your database doesn't have to be moved, but you do need to install any looks the camera used. Like the default.look, it should be in the sample folder as your media. On you editing PC double click on the .look files to register them with the system. Now you the look will be visible in you editing/compositing system.

Tried that but system does not know what to open .look file with. Subsequently, no look setting is applied to the actual video file when viewed.

I run Prospect HD on the editing machine, and its RAW controls are grayed out.

Reinstall the latest Prospect, and if that fails you should contact support.

After much reading, I start to think that Prospect HD (upgraded to the latest v3.4.9 of build 3x) does not support RAW metadata at all.

Probably v4 does?

And then, does it make sense to upgrade to Prospect HD v4... or rather to Prospect 4K instead? Advantages??

I don't care for 4K resolution, only need to retain .look settings from SI-2K footage in post. (Using Premiere Pro 2.0 and AE 7 at the moment.)

Reason to get Prospect 4K v4. It is a 444 product, and you have camera now that will benefit from that much chroma information. You have a 2048x1152 camera, that is bigger than HD, therefore Prospect 4K. And v4 you get First Light, which takes Active Metadata up several level beyond what all others are doing.

Hey, found another reason for Prospect 4K upgrade: alpha channel!

Seems like PHD does not support exporting video with alpha channel, while P4K does.

I always used Targa export workaround when alpha was needed, which was annoying.

Testing P4K trial now. Hope my *old* PPro/AE CFHD projects won't break with this major codec upgrade.

Interestingly, the issue seems to have been resolved by following these steps:

1. Uninstall PHD v3
2. Install Neo Player of the same build
3. Re-install PHD

Now looks do work!

I may still upgrade to P4K at a later date if need 444, higher resolution, and alpha channel.

Thanks to all who helped!

BTW, shot some footage with SI-2K Mini and Nikon manual lenses (including my fav Zeiss 100mm Makro, which however becomes extreme telephoto on this cam), and footage looks be-u-ti-ful! :)))

Hats off to Silicon Imaging and Cineform for creating such a tremendous quality, very cinematic camera at a relatively affordable price point.
