Neoscene benefits in iMovie (Canon 5D mkII)?
 

I recently left a PC setup with a 3.2 quad core, 8 GB RAM, 7800 GTX and so on for a new Macbook 2.8 (dual core) with 4 GB RAM and 9600 GT. Both setups use Adobe CS4 and on the Mac I have iMovie in addition to that.

Needless to say, editing Cineform on the PC was smooth, even with 1080p. On the Mac it isn't. My footage is coming from my Canon 5D mk II.

I'm familiar with the Cineform codecs per se and it's benefits, but it feels like something's missing in iMovie, which is compatible according to Cineform. Of course, the conversion in Neoscene creates a "better" file for editing, structurally. And the upconversion and YUV-"correction" is good too.

But somehow... where CS4 on the PC was a pleasure to work with color correction wise, iMovie feels pretty awkward. The interface for correcting exposure, levels, brightness, contrast and saturation is pretty enough, but it almost feels like the controls doesn't do what they say.

For instance: a relatively small push of the exposure quickly drains all color from the footage as if it was a combined exposure/de-sat lever!?

Regardless, just to make sure:

Do I need to make any special settings in order for iMovie to make the most of my Neoscene files? Does it automatically use 10 bit color mode and so on??

I'm slowly warming up to iMovie as a "for now" solution, but I am impatiently waiting for a CS4 importer on the Macside...
