MC5 Cineform Workflow

Now that Media Composer 5 does this:

"Get Full-Quality HD-RGB Processing
Keep those finishing jobs in house, and deliver the highest quality color and effects work, with support for full-quality 4:4:4 HD-RGB color space processing in Media Composer. With the higher resolution detail, you can perform color correction, keying, and effects work with greater precision and ease."

Seems like overkill for 10-bit which is what I'm using.

Based of the assumption that Cineform 4:2:2 is in 709 (16-235) it would make sense to stay at 709. But what about the choice of YCC or RGB?

How do you import Cineform into MC5 and ensure you are keeping it at 10-bit? Which format should you import, AVI or MOV? Importing as a 10-bit version of DNxHD is one option (if it can be done). Linking by AMA is another but can still be a challenge even with a fast computer.

How would you do a round trip to After Effects and maintain 10-bit?

(Also, how to do Cineform->After Effects->Avid in 10-bit.)

Avid has so far not been willing to shed light here. Knowing more about the Cineform formats would still be a great benefit.

Keith, use CineForm MOV in MC v5 to maintain deep precision. Here is a Tech Note about how to export to CineForm MOV files from MC v5: Cineform Tech Blog Blog Archive Avid Media Composer v5 Export to CineForm MOV.
