Thank you for the second monitor support! it even works better than the PC, realtime playback with sound.

Everything smooth so far.

One issue found so far is that a side-by-side 3d decode to 2vuy (QuickTime, FirstLight main screen or FCP with 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 source) does crash.

Re: New Mac Betas

When exporting to Cineform (Neo HD) from After Effects with this beta, the result is brighter. When converting the same clip from REmaster everything is ok. Footage is from Canon 5D. No filtering selected in Remaster and settings in AE are: 16Bit Project, trillion color with quality slider to 100.

See screenshots:

CF export from AE

I'm also wondering why there's no MOV exporter from AE? I know David said it was not necessary but why make different export option within the same suite of software. There's an exporter in Premiere but in After Effect the Quality slider to 100 is "Filmscan 2" and 0 is "LOW"...

The new beta links are broken.

Re: New Mac Betas

Exporting from AE is odd at best. We have some patches to the codec configuration file that will at least tell AE that the codec would like the material in 16-bit RGBA. AE exporter sees that and will give you the option of "Trillions+" colors. Unfortunately, it then opens the QuickTime encoder with for an 8-bit 4:2:2 encode. The Apple QuickTime interface then converts whatever AE passes into 8-bit 4:2:2 data before passing it to the encoder.

Looking into the links..

Re: New Mac Betas

Is this the patch you are refering to?

When i added these tags to MediaCoreQTCodecRulesCS5.xml i could select trillion +. Thanks to David N for the info.

<QTCodec codec='CFHD' vendor='****' platform='mactel' direction='encode' versionlow='0x00000' versionhigh='*' gammatag='false' cvbuffertag='0' deepdecodefourcc='b64a' decodefourcc='argb' />
<QTCodec codec='CFHD' vendor='****' platform='mactel' direction='decode' versionlow='0x00000' versionhigh='*' gammatag='false' cvbuffertag='0' deepdecodefourcc='b64a' decodefourcc='argb' />

----------------------------------------------------------

Will there be a solution to the brightness issue when exporting from AE? It was fine on the PC before.

Re: New Mac Betas

Thanks for all the info Craig. I don't really understand your post about the export issue within AE. It's a little much for me to grasp... Are you saying that exporting from AE is really 8bit contained in a 10bit file?

Is the issue fixable or do we have to forget about exporting Cineform from AE?

Re: New Mac Betas

It is fixable. On the PC it was fixed by only presenting the 16-bit 'b64a' pixel format as supported. This is not possible on the Mac, since FCP requires '2vuy' as the first pixel format. The fix does need to come from Adobe. We had the same problem with the AJA stereo encoder, and fixed that. We also saw the same thing with RedCine, and worked with the engineers at Red to solve it as well.

Re: New Mac Betas

In FirstLight the "contrast" slider and all "gamma" sliders don't work under "primaries". (gamma, red, blue and green).

All the other controls work fine.

Re: New Mac Betas

Today's update.

Fixed a couple of memory leaks in FirstLight stereo mux.
Double checked the contrast and gamma controls.

Re: New Mac Betas

The "contrast" and "gamma" sliders now work but the masking issue on YUV footage is back. Weird grey bars show up again
