MVC encoding
 

Is there a way to encode a Cineform stereo file to MVC? Seems like all the encoders out there are out of my price range $5000 and up.

I hope somebody can provide a definitive answer to this question.
I have been scouring the internet for information about MVC Encoding, I'm particularly interested in a workflow that could produce a single file MVC format that can be played back on the PS3, I know it can be done because I've downloaded a 3D trailer from the PS Store in this format. I also am considering distribution channels for some content and need to weigh up 3D Bluray versus downloadable files, I've asked the question to Netblender about their MVC encoder and it encodes to 2 files that are ready for 3D BR authoring and doesn't offer a single file option. I know the latest Vegas offers an option to "burn to disk" with a this format but the documentation is unclear as to whether Vegas can output a single MVC file. I downloaded the trial to test this feature and unfortunately can't run the trial because the trial period has expired due to a previous download of a prior build.

Have any of you guys with the latest Vegas been able to output to a single MVC file that plays on the PS3 ie a file that auto switches the TV into 3D?

Hi Mark, i will be testing the newest Vegas trial later today and i will report back.

I looked everywhere too and information is very sparse and confusing.

I made myself a version of Friday the 13th Part 3 3D by using my 2004 and 2009 DVDs. For some reason the 2004 was the Left camera and the 2009 re-issue was mastered with the Left... it was a lot of work to make sure all the frames were matching because the 2004 was encoded at 23.976 and the 2009 at 29.97 with 3:2 pull but I did successfully sync all frames.

It works very well with side by side but I think that the MVC encode would have better resolution.
