Problem with visualization of 3D clips
 

Hello,
I'm evaluating Cineform Neo3D on OSX (10.6.8) , so I've converted some clips from a 3D GoPro set, a Panasonic AG-2DA1 and from a mirror rig (2x Sony EX3).

When I was on field I've transcoded all the material to Cineform codec (in .avi with a PC).
Then on Mac I've re-wrapped clips with ReMaster to .mov, than muxed the clips in a 3D file with firstlight.
I've set all my left and right eyes clips as 2D in firstlight and adjust horizontal flip for the left eye in rig's clips.
On my Mac everything is OK; if I switch the view to Left eye or right eye, I see the right proprtions.
Then I copied my clips on another Mac for Final cut editing; I have Cineform player on this Mac just for decoding.
My clips are OK if I see them in 3D modes or in 2D, but when I switch to Left eye or Right eye I see just half of the clip stretched horizontally.
Plus all left eyes from mirror rig are flipped again.....
It seems that Cineform player cannot read active metadata from files.

Any solution?

Might be a support question.

You need to make sure you database (of image corrections) is shared with your decoding only system. Also I'm not sure NeoPlayer is up to date (we are soon to phase it out) so you might be better installing the GoPro CineForm Studio app, which does have to latest codecs.

I thought that metadatas belonged to clip itself.

Getting Back to the problem that the Original Poster was talking about...

I find myself at the receiving end of this same problem.

Here's the problem

1) Convert a pair of .MXF file as Left and Right cineform .MOV files on a PC (so that the editor on his MAC can work in FCP)

2) Editor downloaded Cineform trial version of Neo3D.

3) He Muxes left and right clips sent to him from step 1 and does it in Firstlight (from the 15 day trial)

4) All goes perfect... plays back as 3D (anaglyph, onionskin, side by side etc) perfectly in FCP, even in Premier CS5.5 (on pc)..

However... if you choose to see it as only Left eye or Right eye... the image is stretched.

This has put a complete halt to the workflow and we now have to resort to someother system for doing 3D grading.

(looking at Edius and Vegas)
Would have completely done everything in Premiere CS5.5 on the PC as it can play two MXF Nanoflash @220 mbps streams in realtime.
The only reason we not doing that is because Adobe is sleeping on implementing native intuitive tools for 3D geometry correction, floating windows etc.

...back on topic... Is anyone else facing these issues with Cineform
We are using the latest updates/downloads as of date.

..solution

for some reason, in the PC version of Firstlight the Workspace Preformatted setting was changed to side-by-side instead of 2D for the individual clips (the pair, before they are muxed)

manually setting this Preformatted option to 2D sorted the problem
I then had to copy the DB over from Windows to the MAC

btw (if your tweaking 3d settings on the mac or pc then u also need to export the db so that settings carry over)

All is good in Cineform heaven once again ;)
