Video breaking up in computer

I pulled video into my computer via PPro with aspect HD. As I was watching some video, I noticed at about 50 minutes, the video was starting to break up real bad. I went back to the master tape and it is fine. So, since this is the first time I have transfered to the computer and watched, any idea what is going on?

Thanks

Dave

Did it do it again when you re-captured?

I had not recaputured yet since I am trying to understand if there is an issue, or if I had done something wrong before trying. It takes a long time to do an entire tape, plus, I do hate to put anymore time on the heads than I need.

I for the heck of it started a defrag on the drive to see if it made any difference. If not, I will recaputure the tape and see what it does.

Thanks

How much material is on the capture drive? I know, that's an old question but sometimes we forget the little stuff. If you are even close to the border on the capture, even if you have the drive formatted as NTSF, you could be running into throughput issues?

Just a thought.

I am using a 300GIG U320 scsi for the data. I have about 100 gig on it now.
(Have 2 hours of HDV, and 30 minutes of DV)

Dave,

Repeatability of an error is very import for determining if the failure point is a software error, otherwise it could just be a random event. There are no known reasons this should have occurred. You should just recapture the section of the tape you lost.

I agree David. If it can not be repeated, what good is it.
So, after I try it again when the defragging is done, I will recapture the same tape and see if it was random, or something else.

Thanks

Dave
