RAID...not the spray!

Question?
What is the best RAID configuration and storage arrangement for use with Aspect HD:
One RAID 0 set up with all capture, scratch, render, etc. files on one Raid 0 configuration?
Two RAID 0 setups with capture devoted to one, and all other files to the other?
RAID 3, and however to arrange the files to work most efficiently?
RAID 5?
RAID 10?
And RAID ***???

Thanks,
Gary

This has been discussed over and over. See this thread for a start, then do a search from the main page. You will find many threads. I comes down to just how fast you want to go, in small increments, and how much you are willing to risk, like everything!

What Then???

If RAID 10 is ones choice, how would one best allocate the media over the drives?

Thanks
Gary

Gary,

Don't even know what raid 10 is but, this is the most often reccomended set-ups as best as I remember.

One Drive: Everything on one drive of course.

Two Drives: Editing program on the "C" or main drive, Captured Video and Audio on the remaining drive.

Three drives: Editing program on the "C" or main drive, Captured Video on another, Conformed Audio files the remaining drive.

Four Drives: Editing program on the "C" or main drive, Captured Video on another, and Conformed Audio files on another drive, then Finished Projects on the fourth, But who wants to worry about that many drives?????????

I hope that this helps and I'm others with more knowledge will chime in.

Good luck---Mike
