Audio ok, Video runs at 50% speed

Howdy...

I have 2 computers, running Vegas and Cineform Connect HD.

I often use WMP or Media Player classic to view clips converted with Cineform so I can quickly log them without going into Vegas and having to create audio peaks and such...

Here's my issue: On 1 PC, the cineform HD clips play back just fine in WMP and in Media Player classic (and in Vegas, of course) but on the other PC, while Vegas works fine, when I play the clips in either media player, the audio is perfect, but the video runs at 50% speed slow motion. Of course, the video is instantly out of sync with the audio, and is unwatchable.

I have tried reinstalling, etc... Anyone else have this issue or know of a solution?

Thanks,

Ben

Some info on your system would be helpful. Either your memory, disk, or CPU just can't handle the throughput that HDV requires. You could try defragmenting your hard disk.

Both systems are identical from a hardware POV. AMD 4400+X2. 2GB RAM, HDs defrag'd every week. Do you think a fragmented hard drive could create a perfect 50% constant speed reduction?

I think it's got to be something to do with a codec conflict, or something..

Best,

Ben

Yes I have the same problem. Rendered Cineform file video plays at around 50% of normal speed while audio plays at normal speed when viewing in Windows Media Player. File plays OK if imported to Premiere Pro timeline in a Cineform project preset

I doubt there is a exactly 50% playback speed. Many single core systems will struggle with 1080i playback in mediaplayer. For fast mediaplayer support download http://www.cineform.com/downloads/PlaybackControls.zip, unzip and double click on AcceleratedPlay.reg which will set a register key that the decoder uses for performance playback.

I agree, it's probably not 50%. In fact, if you scrub up and down the clip the degree of audio lag varies. However the slowmo effect looks smooth - almost as if it was intended.

Thanks for the link. I've followed your instructions and now playing a cineform .avi in WMP works a treat - even while my CPU is busy encoding for DVD!. A slightly reduced raster but it's no problem. My main concern was whether the cineform file was rendered incorrectly due to settings or something.
