Previewing using video overlay quality?

Hi,

I'm currently using a Dell 2405 and 1901 with a eVGA nVidia 7800 GT card and Premiere Pro 1.5.1 and Aspect HD 4.02 Build 54.

I have the video overlay/full screen working. I can preview during playback and scrubbing.

However, the quality is not the same (sharpness) as what comes out of my camera via the component connections.

I'm previewing on my Dell 2405.

Is this normal? Is what I'm seeing a result of the Cineform clip? Or do I have something set up wrong?

I'm using DVI-D on the 2405.

I'm wondering if I will get a better picture using the component out on my video card.

Thanks,

Jim

Turn off "de-interlace while scrubbing" with the playback setting window to get out the full quality while editing. Remember the interlaced output may look a little odd on you progressive display.

That worked!

Which brings me to another question on the same line.

How does one juggle the HDV/SD product with Progressive/Interlaced (displays)?

What I mean is, (and this may be a question for a different forum) what is the best way to monitor HDV output from Premiere Pro? How do I edit HDV that's going to eventually (for now) be viewed on a CRT, Tube TV or LCD/Plasma?

I have this great camera (Sony Z1U) and Cineform, how do I make the most of it so it will be viewable and look good on a variety of viewing devices?

I think this should be another post...

Thanks,

Jim

Calibrating your display for the various output styles is tricky. A good question for a more general forum.
