Multiprocessor load balancing

Captured 40 minutes of XL-H1 HDV 30p tape using HDLink on a daul-processor dual-core AMD Opteron with 4 drive SATA RAID 0 while watching the XP performance monitor. Load on the four processors was well balanced. Scene detection worked without a hitch. Rendering a single video sequence with simple transistions in PPro 2 from CFHD codec to various formats (eg. DVD, H.264) was also well balanced across all processors.

Some filters and plugins in AE 7 will peg all four processors near 100%, but have not made a detailed list of which features use multiprocessors and which do not, and have not yet tried Nulceo. This AMD system from Boxx is proving to be a solid editing workhorse.

Best,
Christopher
