ConnectHD and Dual Processors

Howdy...

I'm using ConnectHD to convert (not capture) some 1080i HDV M2Ts to 720p AVi's...

I'm sure this is processor-intensive. My system has a 3-drive RAID 0 array, so disk speed should not be an issue...

I have 2 dual-core opteron 270s. I notice that while converting, Core 1 is at 50%, core 2 at 5%, core 3 at 100%, and core 4 at 5%.

I believe that connectHD and HDLink are 'multiprocessor' aware apps, so should I not be getting more processor usage, or is this normal?

Best,

Ben

The encoding is n-way threaded, however the MPEG2 that we have to license is not, so that is the weak link (your 100%.) We also haven't yet threaded the resizer.

David, does AspectHD have the same license limitation in regards to using dual core processors?

It is not a restriction just a limitation of that MPEG decoder. However this is not an issue for dual core system, it was more of an issue for Ben's quad core Opteron system.
