1440x1080 is the correct full frame size on my computer for FX-1 footage?
 

I shoot with a Sony FX-1(1080i) which supposedly has a frame size of 1920 x 1280 when viewed on a hdtv, but on the computer, say when viewing the raw footage clips in WMP after I capture them (with Aspect HD) the full frame size is 1440 x 1080. Is there a technical explanation for that?

And more importantly, if I edit my footage with Aspect HD in Premiere Pro 1.5.1 and output to wmv or quicktime for web viewing, is the correct full frame size 1440 x 1080 or alternatively smaller like for example 720 x 540 or 360 x 270 if I want to make the frame size smaller for end users to shrink the file size? And would this still be 16 x 9 aspect ratio? I don't quite understand. 9/16= .5625 but 1080/1440= .75?

Raw HDV is 1440x1080 with a pixel aspect ratio around 1.3333, therefore making it display at 1920x1080. All intermediate HDV material should also keep that pixel aspect ratio information.

You should change your rendering resolutions to 1920x1080 just in case because some media players don't accept non-square pixels.

Now I am really confused. The videos I rendered for the end users look perfectly fine at 1440 x 1080, ie, not distorted. So for the end user, you are telling me that they should be watching these videos as say, wmv files in WMP and they should have a 1920 x 1080 frame size instead?

1440x1080 with 1.33:1 pixels is a standard output format for WMV -- these is no advantage is up-ressing to 1920x1080 for your export (less you are going out HDSDI.)
