Problem with outputting to Quicktime from *any* app!

Problem with outputting to Quicktime from *any* app!

On my dual core pc workstation that I use to edit and encode Sony FX-1 1080i hdv videos, I cannot seem to output Quicktime videos using any settings from either the Premiere Pro 1.5.1 and Aspect HD timeline, nor can I encode to Quicktime from any intermediate file (either HDV AVI, or hi quality WMV) with any of the three popular video encoding apps- Cleaner XL 1.5, Canopus Procoder 2.0 and Sorenson Squeeze 4.3.

Outputting to WMV and Real works fine from either Premiere Pro or any of the encoding apps . So this has to be a Quicktime issue? The encoding seems to work in all the apps and then suddenly it fails at approx. 99% finished and actually disconnects my external hard drive from Windows XP's ability to see it while giving a windows error message! Nor does it work to encode to an internal hard drive (not the system drive). When I reboot the drive there appears to be a Quicktime file of some kind with an appropriate looking file size and the intended file name plus a suffix "work.mov". I can't get this video to play however even if I rename it. Can anyone shed some light on what is going on with this?

Many have found using the /3G switch in the windows boot.ini file solves these Premiere export issues. Please fill a trouble ticket with cineform and the support staff can tell you what to try.

Thanks for the reply, I submitted a trouble ticket. In the meantime, where can I read about this /3G switch?

That is why I passed you on to support, I don't really know. Basically it is to allow individual Windows applications to use more of your system memory.
